NEW May 2011 Critical Adwords Changes:

Google made critical changes to PPC search results. These changes make traditional Adwords management techniques & strategies far less effective than in the past.  While still critical it is no longer good enough to focus on CTR (click through rate). In fact recent changes will almost guarantee lower CTRs for all advertisers who do not fully embrace these revolutionary changes to the Adwords model. Advertisers who embrace these revolutionery Adwords changes will reap substantial rewards and bury most Adwords competitors

How Stupid People Can Be ... But Proves What I Teach Works.

Some of you know that I am an affiliate of Dial Direct. Some of you also know the exact techniques that I use to successfully run my DD affiliate membership because if you've been to my Adwords and Beyond workshop you will remember I show you exactly what you need to do to stand a chance of succeeding using PPC.

This morning I did a search on google.co.za for one of my important search terms. I saw something very strange. I saw my EXACT ad but when I clicked (I do this to check things out now and again) the landing page was completely different to what I expected..

I saw a page that I didn't recognise... but it had a very familiar navigation structure and headline. Moreover it had a piece of information proudly displayed on the page that could only have been obtained by copying my site content.. It took me a while before I realised that the domain name URL was the same as mine except that it was a .co.za site. In summary...

  1. An exact replica ad to mine was shown when a specific keyword search was done
  2. The landing page was a close copy of mine... exact copy in numerous places
  3. The author had copied a piece of information and placed it into 2 seperate places on the landing page. This information was unique to me... ie it could only have come by copying information from my site. The location of the unique information was the same as on my own site.
  4. What was even more stupid was that this piece of information that was copied would have generated commissions for me rather than the author.

After some basic digging I was able to identify the owner of the site and sure enough it was a student of mine.

Now I don't have a problem with competing with my students because that's what I train them to do.

The really stupid thing that the student did was to copy information that unambiguously linked him to having plagiarised my own site.

I have taken screenshots of the pages concerned for future reference.

I have no intentions of taking the matter further because I have better things to do... however the person who did this will recognize his folly because he will see this and maybe do things differently in future.

Of course I've alerted Dial Direct to the use of my specific information on a website not owned by me.

There you have it... it's a strange world, isn't it?
