Fine Tuning of a Google Adwords Campaign
This paper has shown how quickly, easily and cheaply it is to establish a very
sound basis for investment in online markets. Google makes it possible to target
specific regions within South Africa (or other countries) such as a radius of
200kms as shown in the map Google Adwords map below…
Google
allows a PPC campaign to be run by region as well as country. The above
screenshot shows that Google will only show relevant ads to those within 200kms
from Johannesburg. Imagine how important such research information could be.
Keyword research can also be extended to discover trends and also seasonal
changes. Google through Google Insights provides fascinating information related
to search queries. Consider the following question… what are the trends and
relative importance of the following 3 keywords
- Fly Fishing
- Sea Fishing
- Carp Fishing
Here’s the answer for South Africa only…
The graph below shows the search trends for 3 types of fishing since 2004 in
South Africa. I am a fly fisherman and see this downward trend as significant. I
don’t know why but it’s conceivable that I could discover the answer as to why
by using keyword research. If I was an online fly fishing shop I might be
concerned by this trend.

Seasonal variations can be tracked on the back of keyword research. If you take
a look at how Easter and Christmas look from Google search perspective you'll
notice last minute rate of growth in Christmas shopping search … if you sell
Christmas trees it might be a good idea to start selling them online as early as
September.
And more people are looking to make money online…
Is it a sign of the times or are people wising up to the use of the Internet to
make money?
At last… people are starting to see Google Adwords opportunities in South
Africa…
South Africa is years behind the rest of the world in terms of embracing Google
Adwords as a vitally important addition to any organisation’s marketing and
advertising strategy
