SEO and Internet Marketing Overview

How does it all fit together? There are two basic areas of website success and performance.

1. The Website. You need a website that works first and foremost for your visitor -  

2. Internet Marketing. You need visitors to come/find to your website. Achieving this in the online environment is not a mistake. It is the result of hard work and effort. Internet Marketing is not associated with offline marketing in any way. Internet Marketing is about developing the visibility of your website on the online environment.

In a nutshell, Internet Marketing is about taking these two areas and maximising the return from them online.

1. The Website

is entirely within your control

needs research about your online market first - often called keyword analysis or keyword research

should be designed around your ideal visitor

should encourage that visitor to do something (buy, download, subscribe, click etc.)

2. Internet Marketing

should revolve around maximising your website exposure by:

free listings on major search engines for relevant keywords

paid for clicks (optional) for appropriate keywords

other means that are relevant and particular to your website such as forums, chat room, bulletin boards and discussion groups. Search Engines are still the most important single focus however.
